CNY at Sentosa..

while most people had planned what do to for CNY so that they won’t be bored, we had no plans for CNY.. in fact the Saturday morning was spent at the doctor’s clinic because Nardyne had patches of red on her stomach and thigh and they itch.. it could be due to something new she ate, it could be an environmental factor, it could be due to her MMR the week before.. so doctor gave her 2 different allergy syrups and a botttle of calamine lotion.. we spent the day at home watching DVDs that Dino rented..

Sunday we went to my uncle’s place at CCK for a family meeting.. one of Dino’s family’s family friend invited us to her home on Monday at Yew Tee, she has not met Nardyne. I didnt even know about the sun eclipse that happened that evening. I thought it was just cloudy and probably going to rain..

Tuesday was the only day that we planned, of sorts.. I had told mama that we’ll go to the Sentosa Garden and we’ll go when ayah has his off day.. so the five of us, ayah, mama, nardyne, dino and me, left home about 10am and head for Sentosa.. it was a flat charge of $6 per entry of car plus passengers but the parking charges went up 2.5 times the normal rate, and we parked in the sun because it was full in the shade..

i wanted to get Nardyne a bottle of Ribena.. I was walking past the Island Shop to go to 7-Eleven, as fate would have it, my favourite pair of slippers’ strap broke.. so i detoured into the Island Shop.. bought a cheapest pair of slippers which are not cheap enough for me and not too comfortable and a pair of sunglasses..

after walking around in the hot sun, looking at the floral displays and pushing through crowds at certain places, we took a bus to the Underwater World.. i cant remember when was the last time we went there but i think the last time my parents went there was when it first opened.. back then it was horribly crowded, it was still crowded last week but not as crowded as before..

i lost sight of Nardyne for a while in the crowds.. shoot! my heart just stopped for a moment when i cant find her.. that girl can really run fast and you can’t see her because she’s so short.. she had gone to the dispensing machine to play with the knobs..

so from then on dino carried her around the place.. we went through the conveyor belt 3 times.. first time with everybody but i think the stroller was just taking up too much time.. second time they went in without me and the stroller.. third time it’s just the three of us.. it took her some time to get excited about all fishes..

after all the fishes.. we got a bus back to the carpark and I was thankful that we drove because there was a long queue to get back to mainland by the train.. since we didnt really have lunch (we snacked on delifrance pastries), we stopped at Vivocity to have a meal at Garuda..

I LOVE Garuda..it’s always satisfying to eat there.. we took a lot of dishes but in small portions.. I spent about $150 on 5+1 of us (my sister joined for the meal and Nardyne had some rice with a bit of sop buntut and begedil sapi)..

it was overall a good outing..

it’s funny come to think of it…

i have moved in to our flat for 2.5 years now.. we have 4 neighbbours on our floor and from the nearest to the furthest, they alternate chinese, malay chinese, malay..

the funny thing is, i think we are friendly and perhaps closer to our chinese neighbours than the malay neighbours.. maybe it’s because they are working in the day so my malay neighbours’ doors are always closed but my chinese neighbours’ doors are always open day & night.. and my house door too is often open..

the further malay neighbour, we think they are probably a young family with 1 or 2 kids? we know which is their car but we’ve almost never met them..

the nearer malay neighbour, we bump into them once in a while on the way to the lift, they are a young family with a boy in primary school.. we know their names, their car & his work transport but that’s probably as far as we know..

we’ve celebrated Aidilfitri 3 times now in this home but we’ve never been to visit their homes and vice versa..

my chinese neighbours are different.. the nearer one, which our doors are facing each other, the elder couple is probably my parents’ age.. both still working.. they are vegetarians.. they have 3 children (i think).. all in their twenties.. and his sister stays with them too.. they have another family living one or two floors above us..

the other chinese family, we pass by their house everyday to go to the lift, they have 2 young children, 1 girl, 1 boy and they have a maid.. the girl will call us whenever we pass by.. and the kids love to call out to Nardyne when she’s walking by.. and Nardyne gets excited to see them too.. the wife has been very generous ever since Nardyne arrived.. she works in the infant garment industry and she gave me lots, lots, lots of nice clothes for Nardyne..

we gave both families a hamper of sorts for Chinese New Year and they have also given us hampers for Aidilfitri..

it’s funny that we know the Chinese neighbours better than the Malay neighbours.. i’ve thought of how to get to know the Malay neighbours better but i always come to a blank.. is this normal??? hehe
